Book Cover Battle: Delirium vs Delirium
I recently finished Delirium by Lauren Oliver and loved it. But when I purchased Pandemonium, Delirium book 2, I was disappointed by the mismatched covers. The new book covers for Delirium and for Pandemonium look more like perfume or makeup ads you would find in a magazine.
They are pretty, don’t get me wrong, but they don’t reflect the story very well. There are decorative flowers highlighting the girls’ faces that seem are out of place of place. Lena is never in the jungle or a garden peering around colorful flowers. in fact the world created by Lauren Oliver is devoid of beautiful things like flowers. The cure for delirium makes people less emotional and things like flowers are unnecessary.
I think I prefer the original cover for Delirium. It’s pretty yet slightly somber and captures the feeling of the story. I think they should have stuck with the original idea for the book cover in this series.
